Preservative (Phenoxyethanol & Ethylhexylglycerin)



A preservative is an ingredient that is added to products such as foods, pharmaceuticals and personal care products to prevent spoilage, whether from microbial growth or undesirable chemical changes. In cosmetics, it is used to protect formulations against bacteria, yeasts, mould and fungi. The use of preservatives is essential in most products to prevent product damage caused by microorganisms and to protect the product from inadvertent contamination by the consumer during use. It is illegal to sell a formulation that is unsafe. 

This preservative is a beginner-friendly that is versatile that does not need much expertise to use. This preservative is made up of a combination of Phenoxyethanol and Ethylhexylglycerin.

Solubility: It is soluble in water and alcohol bases. 100g of water at 20° C dissolves 1g of preservative 

Storage: Store at room temperature

Usage: Use up to 1%. The recommended percentages are individual to the sensitivity of the product to microbial contamination, the choice of raw materials used and product hygiene.
