Description: Rosemary Essential Oil is a steam-distilled essential oil (INCI: Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil) from the leaves of the rosemary plant, with a fresh, herbal, camphor-like aroma. It is one of the most popular essential oils in hair oils, scalp blends, shampoos and conditioners, and adds a clean, herbal note to skincare and aromatherapy blends. Always dilute before use on skin. It is available in 100ml, 200ml and 500ml, with 1L to 20L on the Rosemary Essential Oil Wholesale page.

Why It’s Special:

  • Hair and Scalp Favourite: The go-to essential oil for scalp oils, hair serums, shampoos and conditioners.
  • Fresh Herbal Scent: It blends well with peppermint, lavender, cedarwood and citrus oils.
  • Rinse-Off and Leave-On: It works in both, at the right dilution.

How to Enjoy Rosemary Essential Oil: For a scalp oil, add 20 to 40 drops to 100ml of a carrier oil such as Jojoba Oil or Castor Oil, massage into the scalp, leave on, then shampoo out. For shampoo or conditioner, add 10 to 20 drops to 100ml of unscented Shampoo Base or Conditioner Base. In a diffuser, add 3 to 6 drops for a fresh, herbal aroma. Can I put rosemary oil straight on my scalp? No. Always dilute it in a carrier oil or product first, as undiluted essential oils can irritate skin.

Creative Inspirations:

  • Scalp Oils and Hair Serums: Use 0.5 to 2% in a light carrier oil for a fresh, herbal leave-on serum.
  • Shampoos and Conditioners: Scent an unscented base at 0.5 to 2% for a clean, herbal rinse-off product.
  • Herbal Blends: Pair it with peppermint, lavender, cedarwood or citrus oils in body oils, balms and diffuser blends.

Making It Work: How much rosemary oil should I add to my hair oil? 0.5 to 2% is a typical range, which is about 10 to 40 drops in 100ml of carrier oil. Never apply it undiluted to skin. Is rosemary essential oil the same as rosemary extract? No. Rosemary essential oil is a steam-distilled aromatic oil; rosemary extract is a different ingredient usually used as an antioxidant. Is it suitable for everyone? Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and if you have epilepsy or high blood pressure, unless advised by a health professional. Keep away from children and eyes.
