Almond Oil
Description: Almond Oil is sweet almond oil (INCI: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil), pressed from sweet almond kernels. It is a light, pale yellow oil with a mild, slightly sweet aroma and a good balance of glide and absorption. High in oleic acid with a good share of linoleic acid, it softens and moisturises without feeling heavy, which is why it is one of the most popular carrier oils for massage, body oils, creams, balms and hair care. It suits most skin types; patch test first. Available in 100ml, 200ml and 500ml, with 1L and larger on our Almond Oil Wholesale page.
Why It’s Special:
- All-Rounder Carrier Oil: Light enough for the face and rich enough for the body, so one oil covers a wide range of formulas.
- Massage Favourite: Good slip and glide without feeling heavy, and it carries essential oils well.
- Easy to Formulate With: Works in creams, balms, body oils, scrubs and hair oils with no special handling.
How to Enjoy Almond Oil: For massage, warm a little between your hands and work it into skin, adding a few drops of essential oil such as Lavender Essential Oil for scent. For the body, apply to damp skin after showering and work a little extra into dry areas such as elbows, knees, hands and cuticles. Is almond oil good for the face? It is light and mild and suits most skin types: warm 3 to 4 drops in your palms and press over the face and neck at night, or use it as a gentle cleansing oil by massaging it over dry skin and wiping off with a warm, damp cloth. For hair, smooth 1 to 2 drops over damp or dry ends to tame frizz and add shine, or for a weekly pre-wash oil, massage a teaspoon into the scalp and lengths, leave for 30 minutes, then shampoo twice.
Creative Inspirations:
- Massage and Body Oils: Use it on its own or as the main carrier in a scented massage or after-shower body oil.
- Body Scrubs: Blend at 20 to 40% with sugar or salt for a scrub that leaves skin feeling soft.
- Hair Oils: Combine with Jojoba Oil for a light pre-wash or ends oil.

Making It Work: Is sweet almond oil the same as bitter almond oil? No. Sweet almond oil is the carrier oil used in skincare; bitter almond oil is a different product and is not used this way. Can people with nut allergies use it? No, it comes from a tree nut and should be avoided. How long does it last? Store it cool and dark, close it tightly after use and refrigerate after opening. For richer blends, pair it with Apricot Kernel Oil and a little Vitamin E Oil. Need bulk? 1L to 20L sizes are on our Almond Oil Wholesale page.
