Description: Blue Lotus Absolute Oil is a floral absolute (INCI: Nymphaea Caerulea Flower Extract) extracted from the petals of the blue lotus flower, Nymphaea caerulea. It is an absolute, not an essential oil: it is made by hexane-free solvent extraction, which captures the delicate floral scent that steam cannot. The aroma is soft, floral and complex with sweet, earthy undertones, and it is prized in natural perfumery, luxury face oils, balms and massage blends. Always dilute before use on skin. Available in a 30ml glass dropper bottle, and in packs of 2, 3 or 4 x 30ml.

Why It’s Special:

  • Rare Floral Note: A distinctive, luxurious scent for natural perfumes and premium skincare.
  • A Little Goes a Long Way: Used at 0.1 to 3%, so one 30ml bottle goes into a lot of product.
  • Blends Beautifully: Pairs with sandalwood, neroli, rose and frankincense for premium serums, balms and bespoke perfumes.

How to Enjoy Blue Lotus Absolute Oil: Can I use blue lotus oil neat on my skin? No. It is a concentrated absolute and should always be diluted, usually to 0.1 to 3%. Patch test first. For a face oil, add 2 to 10 drops to 100ml of Jojoba Oil or rosehip oil and press a few drops into freshly cleansed skin. For a perfume oil, add blue lotus absolute to a roller bottle of jojoba or MCT Oil at up to 3%, shake well and apply to pulse points. For the bath, mix a few drops into a tablespoon of carrier oil before adding to the water.

Making It Work: Is blue lotus oil an essential oil? No. Essential oils are steam-distilled, but the blue lotus flower is too delicate for that, so its scent is captured by solvent extraction; ours is hexane-free. What is the difference between blue lotus absolute and blue lotus essential oil? Most products sold as blue lotus essential oil are actually absolutes, or absolutes diluted in a carrier oil. An absolute is the concentrated aromatic extract of the flower and is used at very low levels. Why is it so expensive? It is extracted from delicate flower petals and produced in limited quantities, which makes it one of the rarer floral materials. Always blend it into a carrier such as Jojoba Oil before use.

Responsibility Reminder: Absolutes are concentrated. Dilute before use, keep within the usage rates above, avoid contact with eyes and do not take internally. For external use only. Patch test first.
